The Understory
2021, Digital Prints and Single-channel video with sound, Duration: 4:07
Inspired by bioregionalism as a starting point for telling the disparate stories of the intersection of land and lives, the performance ritualized the interpenetration of the female body and the ecological landscape. The work explores the connection between humans and landscape as a form of feminist world building, and looks to understory flowering trees as a model for alternate ways of living and conceiving of self and community.
