Cheetopia
04/2007
This project addresses my simultaneous awe and suspicion of the natural landscape, Cheetopia, sprang from a chance experience of noticing a small pile of litter on my daily walk past a newly landscaped area of the UCSB campus. This naturally landscaped space was technically living yet somehow seemed dead. It was passing by the lawn one afternoon that I noticed someone had dumped out a bag of spicy red Cheetos. I was struck immediately by the bright contrasting colors and the seemingly familial relationship of the materials. As I sat staring at the discarded food on the lawn I felt strongly that these Cheetos needed to have a more formal and lengthy existence on this site.
